Keith Smith graduated from Durham University with a BA in Politics/Law, and later obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Studies. After graduating, he worked at a number of agencies in the UK, including DDB, McCann Erickson and Grey Advertising. In 1983, Keith took on a leadership role at Holmes Knight Ritchie/WRG and later became a partner at TBWA Holmes Knight Ritchie in 1989. Keith led the winning team that captured the Playtex Wonderbra account, which went on to win “European Campaign of the Year” in 1994.
From 1993–1996, Keith took on the responsibility for setting up Pan-European offices from TBWA International, Brussels. He moved to Hong Kong to create a robust regional network in Asia Pacific for TBWA, which now has over 2,500 people in 19 countries and 45 offices across Asia Pacific.
As a testament to Keith’s successful efforts, TBWA Asia Pacific was voted Regional Network of the Year for 2004 and 2005 by Media magazine and he was voted “Asia Pacific Advertising Executive of the Year” in 2002 and 2007.
In 2006, Keith was named President International of TBWA, working from Hong Kong and Paris. He will continue to support TBWA Worldwide CEO Troy Ruhanen in all 15 core global markets and key global clients within the network.
